From a standard valve to a genuine all-rounder - Part 1 -
Butterfly valve with vibrating disc The functionality aspect of standard valves has grown increasingly important over recent years. Many discharge processes that require product flow to be regulated are straightforward in nature. The silo truck has to be filled from the stationary silo safely and with a greater level of accuracy without generating excessive amounts of dust. In addition, filling times have to be cut and the loading process made as cost-effective as possible, making the equipment usually deployed for dosing too slow or too expensive. As modern logistics can now handle more than just single-product silos, the discharge equipment being used also has to fit various product characteristics (e.g. flow properties, pouring density, susceptibility to “bridging”). The vibrating dosing valve is the perfect tool for a range of discharge tasks, some of them highly challenging. First of all, it allows the product to be discharged virtually unimpeded in its open position (full flow). If a fine flow

Use as a discharge valve Vidos valves can be combined with sequenced locks and used as discharge valves in feed pipes, for instance, with the lock acting as the discharge unit and even high differential pressures able to be circumvented without the risk of air pockets. This significantly reduces performance losses due to leaking air as well as service and maintenance costs. In this case, the vibration of the Vidos valve ensures even dosing into the feed pipe. The feed rate can be optimised by adjusting the cycle time of the sequenced lock and the opening angle of the Vidos discharge valve. Both plant engineers and operators alike thus get a simple, cost-effective solution for numerous dosing and discharge applications. This is because exactly the same liners, bodies, actuators and control elements are used as can be found in standard valves, enabling users to benefit from the global service network, a fact appreciated by international companies in particular. Liners

True Marathon Runners - Part 1 Shut-off flap of the series Z 011-A with pneumatic doubly-acting drive EB-SYD
True Marathon Runners - Part 1
Shut-off flap of the series Z 011-A with pneumatic doubly-acting drive EB-SYD Ebro Armaturen delivers extremely wear-resilient shut-off flaps for demand-oriented filling and packaging of bulk goods. They have proven their outstanding stamina in continuous operation. Among others, the soft-sealing centric interim flaps of the Z 011-A series with doubly-acting pneumatic drive have proven their worth in rotating packaging systems and high performance filling systems. Rotating packaging machines and filling systems with sealing units are used continually for filling big bags in the chemicals and food industries. They all share extremely high throughputs. Switching cycles in the four-digit range per hour are not a rare occurrence. At the same time, the material volumes to be transported are very high and the products are very abrasive, so that the complete unit of fitting and drive must be able to resist the wear stress continually in the mostly automated processes. The stamina these fitting components achieve is only possible when all

The sleeve of the Z 011-A is exposed to extreme wear in this process. In the cement industry, this series is successfully built using a special NBR that mostly compensates for this stress. The sleeve otherwise formed spherically for standard flaps is delivered for filling systems without slant to avoid build-up of the medium and interruption of the material flow. The surface of the flap discs is high-gloss polished and specifically sized for low differential pressures, which considerably reduces wear and avoids adhesions. Actuation takes place via the doubly-acting EB-SYD pneumatic drives that are applied with a long-live special grease to ensure smooth operation of the drive shaft in long-term operation. The drive shaft is delivered in the special material 1.7131. This material with its high core strength is particularly wear-resistant/resilient. The Z 011-A is used for filling amounts of 25 to 50 kg in the rated widths of DN 250 to DN 350. To ensure a continually even

EBRO Vibration Valve Type ViDos Product Range for Materials Handling enhanced
EBRO Vibration Valve Type ViDos
Product Range for Materials Handling enhanced When a valve which is used to shut off the discharge volume of a medium with challenging flow characteristics is operated infrequently, a bridging effect often results. This initially tends to occur between valve disc and liner, but often progresses so far that the material flow is blocked through to the silo. The valve disc and liner are then exposed to disproportionately high frictional forces when the valve opens. Time-consuming countermeasures can be avoided in advance in many cases by using a ViDos valve: a vibrator mounted on the lower shaft causes a light linear vibration of the valve disc. The frequency of the vibration is controlled via the air pressure. The vibrations keep the medium in motion and effectively reduce bridging. Substances that are already compressed or have adhered to the disc are loosened and detached. A mounted positioner enables different coarse/fine dosing positions to be reached, so that the medium can still be discharged with high precision

Inflatable Seat INFLAS Resilient seated butterfly valve type Z 011-A with inflatable liner.
Inflatable Seat INFLAS
Resilient seated butterfly valve type Z 011-A with inflatable liner. TECHNICAL DATA The sealing system `INFLAS` was developed for highly abrasive or very sensitive media. It is available for all resilient seated EBRO butterfly valves with interchangeable seat. In closed position, the liner will be pressed against the disc using low air pressure. The media is sealed off securely. Before opening the disc, the chamber is vented behind the liner. This creates an air gap between the liner and the disc, hence low torque is required to open the valve. GENERAL APPLICATIONS - Bulk goods - Food industry - Pneumatic conveying systems - Weighing technology ADVANTAGES Extremely low wear of parts even in contact with abrasive media Low sized actuators due to reduced torques Low grinding/-clamping of sensitive media between disc and liner

Impeller Valve FS-M Safe and uniform discharge of bulk solids
Impeller Valve FS-M
Safe and uniform discharge of bulk solids EBRO ARMATUREN Gebr. Bröer GmbH (Hagen, Germany) will firstly present their modified impeller valve FS-M, during the POWTECH 2011 exhibition in Nuremberg. Rotating impeller valves aer used in bulk solid processes in order to ensure a uniform discharge of materials, e.g. from silos, bunkers or from weighing containers. Due to the frequency-controlled rotational speed the impeller valves can also be used as a dosing unit, working volumetrically and preventing overfilling of downstream processes effectively. Screw or oscillating conveyors can therefore be uniformly fed, without clogging. For quick floating materials, a pair of blades interrups the material flow in short consecutive intervals, hence allowing a safe and effective discharge of the material. The deploying of the impeller valves into pneumatic feed pipes homogenies and aerates the product flow. The fitting dimensions comply with the face-to-face diameter of butterfly valves with according overall height.
