Monitoring of the volume flow in an evaporative cooler
Almost every cement plant needs an evaporative cooler to cool the exhaust gases for the cleaning process. To save energy, the volume flow is being measured. APPLICATION Almost every cement plant needs an evaporative cooler to cool the exhaust gases for the cleaning process. In order to operate the evaporation cooler with maximum efficiency, a stable volume flow is required. Monitoring the volume flow also leads to energy savings, as external air supply units can be adapted (throttled) to the existing volume flow. Due to the difficult process parameters, it is impossible to use differential pressure measurements on the evaporative cooler. Optical measuring devices also quickly reach their limits here due to the high dust load. Until today, the air velocities are either not controlled at all or are controlled with the help of an optical measuring device. In many places, the fans are also run permanently at high load, which brings with it a huge potential savings. PROCESS DATA * Dust load: 5-10 g/m³ * Diameter: 3600 mm * Process temperature: 250 °C – 500 °C SOLUTION The AirFlow P high temperature version

Improved coffee roasting efficiency
PROBAT is a manufacturer of coffee roasting equipment and wants to control the volume flow to ensure high roaster efficiency through optimal energy transfer. APPLICATION PROBAT is a manufacturer of coffee roasting equipment. PROBAT’s roasters are operated according to a special procedure to make the roasting process as efficient as possible. This procedure enables PROBAT to use a large part of the hot air generated to support the process and thus save energy. The company saves money through lower energy costs while maintaining the same product quality. In order to be able to operate these roasters in an energy-efficient manner, it is important to know which air volume flows through the roaster. Depending on the type of coffee and roasting profile, different volume flows may be required. A correctly set and controlled volume flow ensures high roaster efficiency through optimal energy transfer to the coffee bean. If the volume flow is set incorrectly, the energy transfer to the bean would have to be adjusted via the temperature of the roasting gas, which would have a significant impact on the roaster’s efficiency. ENVEA Acquires California Analytical Instruments
ENVEA, comprised of ENVEA Global SAS and its subsidiary businesses, today announces it has acquired California Analytical Instruments, Inc. (“CAI”). The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. CAI, headquartered in California, US, is a leading environmental monitoring business. Founded in 1981 by Pete Furton, the business designs and develops gas analysers and emission-monitoring solutions for applications such as environmental and industrial emissions monitoring and engine test measurement. CAI has over 30,000 analysers installed in across a wide range of end markets including process industries, industrial engines, academia, and utilities. Its analysers utilise a range of technologies including Chemiluminescence, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR), Flame Ionization Detection (FID), Paramagnetic, and Photoacoustic Infrared Spectroscopy (PAS) for consistent, accurate measurement of virtually any gas. The addition of CAI will enable ENVEA to further build out its product range and footprint in the attractive market verticals which CAI operates, such as process industries including the emerging hydrogen economy. CAI also provides

Monitoring of a bagging machine To detect incompletely sealed bags, Bostik in Borgholzhausen (Germany) monitors a bagging machine with an AirSafe 2 of ENVEA.
Monitoring of a bagging machine
To detect incompletely sealed bags, Bostik in Borgholzhausen (Germany) monitors a bagging machine with an AirSafe 2 of ENVEA. APPLICATION Bostik was founded over 130 years ago and is now a leading manufacturer of adhesive and sealant systems for the building trade, industry and DIY enthusiasts. At its site in Borgholzhausen, Germany, the company produces, among other things, building adhesives and levelling compounds. In a bagging machine, powdered levelling compound is filled into bags at the end of the production process and transported to palletizing via a conveyor belt. The material is then shipped to the customer. CHALLENGE FACED It is occasionally possible that a bag has not been properly sealed after filling in the bagging machine. The incompletely sealed bags then reach the customer. Material can leak out and cause contamination during transport or later at the customer‘s premises. Product complaints and associated expenses could be the result as well. OBJECTIVE Bostik‘s goal was to detect incompletely sealed bags in good time and to eject the bags before they reach palletizing

Stricter regulations for waste incineration
Operators of waste incineration plants must implement the requirements from the WI BREF by December 2023. For mercury emissions, this will mean lower emission limit values and higher technology requirements. Although mercury is a naturally occurring substance, it is still toxic to humans and animals. It accumulates in the body and can cause damage to health. The problem is well known, which is why the limits for mercury emissions in general are already very strict. At the end of 2023, they will be tightened once again for the operators of waste incineration plants as part of the BREF on waste incineration. Then even lower emission limit values will have to be complied within these plants than before. In addition, the analyzers used for monitoring must guarantee a high degree of accuracy and reliability and have the appropriate certification (QAL1). The technology used must correspond to the current state of the art. With the SM-5 from ENVEA, operators of waste incineration plants are well positioned for the future. The modern analyzer is QAL1 certified with its lowest measuring range of 0-5 µg/m³, which is the world’s lowest certified measuring range of mercury

Improved efficiency of blast furnace - Optimizing PCI applications In a steel plant the amount of coal injected into blast furnaces shall be controlled and optimized.
Improved efficiency of blast furnace - Optimizing PCI applications
In a steel plant the amount of coal injected into blast furnaces shall be controlled and optimized. APPLICATION The PCI technology (Pulverized Coal Injection), was designed to dose and control the amount of coal injected into blast furnaces, via the hot blast tuyeres. Modern PCI plant designs use dens phase conveying systems to transport pulverized coal from the storage area to the blast furnace, reducing nitrogen consumption, abrasion and stabilizing coal flow. With optimal coal injection, the last furnace’s burn efficiency is also improved, avoiding downtime and stabilizing iron ore transformation into pig iron. Maintaining burn urn homogeneity is key for stable production. The best way to control coal injection is by directly measuring the coal mass flow in two potential places, after the pulverized coal storage silos, at the PCI, and on the coal injection lances, underneath the blast furnace. In both points dens phase conveying might be found. SOLUTION Designed to measure mass flow of bulk solids in dens phase conveying lines, ENVEA’s DensFlow is the
