Seminar Aims
• Participants will learn something of the legal background to contracts and at the same time be intro-duced to the special “Legal English” terminology often used in contract and contract negotiations.
• The seminar is held in English so that participants can learn, develop and activate their English language skills.
Group of participants
This seminar is designed to assist people in engineering and construction business confronted with contracts and contract documents based on the Anglo-American (or “Common Law”) style.
Participants have reported
how the seminar provides a general introduction to the Anglo-American concept of a contract so that the participants soon became aware of a definite “aha effect” in relation to misunderstandings and problems already experienced. The participants also praised the “easy-to-follow” introduction to the subject, the way the individual components were structured as well as the presentation of the material by the moderator. „This is a very informative and interesting seminar in a small group held in with a positive learning environment. It is an excellent basis for a better understanding of business partners and contracts in English.“
“It was really an excellent training given by Mr. Bugg, because we did not only learn about legal English but could also bring in a lot of cases and questions from our work ! Beyond the language issue he gave a lot of legal advice related to contracts, too, which I did not expect but was very useful! In addition there were a lot of comparisons between Common Law and Civil Law which were definitively very useful - the strength of Mr.
Bugg is that he is familiar with both “systems” and also knows how to teach the differences to an audience that usually has the German system in mind. Excellent!`
