Gluing instead of welding

The use of adhesive brackets when retrofitting vibrators and knockers on bulk goods containers reduces downtimes and protects containers.
Vibrators and impactors are mounted on U-profiles, mounting brackets or metal plates (weld-on plates) for loosening, separating, compacting and sieving powders, granulates or pellets. In this way, containers and pipes are emptied and their walls cleaned, product blockages are dissolved and bulk material bridges are destroyed or, at best, avoided from the outset.

To guarantee these effects, suitable fastening elements must already be taken into account during system planning and subsequent construction. However, problems always arise in the not infrequent cases where a need for vibration technology subsequently arises (new bulk materials, changed recipes, etc.) and no suitable fastening options have been provided on high-quality systems (e.g. made of stainless steel). Welding, on the other hand, is not an optimal solution in retrospect, because on the one hand the surface quality can deteriorate, especially with thin-walled containers, hoppers or pipes, and there is also the risk of fine stress cracks.

The advantages of adhesive bonding have long been recognised in mechanical engineering design planning and are also used in a variety of ways, for example in car production: up to 15 litres of adhesive are used in cars.

All the more reason for the engineers at NetterVibration to get to work. After extensive research and extensive test studies, they have developed a technology that has been on the market for many years and has since become indispensable in the attachment of vibrators and knockers: the manufacturer’s adhesive bracket, NKK for short, makes subsequent welding superfluous, because whether on the silo, pipe or hopper - knockers and vibrators are attached to the target structure simply, permanently and gently using the NKK.

Experience with the glueing process

The advantages of the glueing process are obvious and the practical experience of recent years has already convinced users in various industries. The adhesive consoles enable efficient energy transfer between the vibrator or knocker and the container, silo or hopper concerned.

Installation of the NKK is simple and comparatively quick, as the bracket can be attached easily and without specialised personnel using elastic adhesive and then acts as a carrier medium for selected knockers or vibrators.

Nevertheless, this fastening method is safe, tried and tested and can even be installed during ongoing operations without having to interrupt production processes for any length of time, which minimises the downtimes that are normally required for welding or bolting. The container in question does not need to be emptied before the bracket is fitted, and there is no risk of the material in the container being affected by the heat generated during welding.

The design of the adhesive console ensures even and efficient energy transfer. No structural changes occur and therefore the material of the bonded structure is not affected.

The elastic adhesive layer guarantees a permanent connection without cracks or breaks, making it particularly suitable for thin-walled constructions, materials with low weldability and special plastics. In addition to standard brackets, NetterVibration also offers customised types that are individually designed and manufactured.

Flexible mounting of vibration devices: vacuum instead of welding In bulk material handling, vibrators support the material flow by loosening caking, preventing bridging and preventing product jams. Vacuum holders are suitable for flexibly attaching vibrators exactly where they are needed. In the field of vibration technology, technicians, engineers and maintenance engineers in production plants, plant and mechanical engineering are faced with the question of where and, above all, how a vibrator or impactor can be attached to the respective structure in the most effective and favourable way. A fixed connection in the form of a screw connection on a profile or a weld-on plate has the disadvantage that it is no longer possible to simply move it if necessary. This is because the entire bracket, including the screw connection, would always have to be moved. If the vibrator is mounted with a weld-on profile, any subsequent conversion will be relatively time-consuming and costly. Any welding also impairs the surface quality of the containers

Tackling cost pressure and consumer demands with vibration
From 12 to 14 March 2024, NetterVibration will be exhibiting at the CFIA in Rennes, on stand 8-C15. This trade show traditionally brings together decision-makers, producers and solution providers from the French food industry to find out about trends and innovations. Increasing cost pressure and ever-higher consumer demands are the hallmarks of the sector and are therefore at the heart of the show. NetterVibration will be presenting practical solutions in the field of vibration technology, which enables manufacturers to produce not only more sustainably, but also more efficiently and with higher quality. Depending on the application, vibration ensures breakage- and segregation-free conveying, precise dosing and regular, controllable material flows. They also allow easy emptying and cleaning of leftovers, separated or carefully sieved ingredients. Finally, they ensure optimum filling of the packaging. The result is shorter cycle times, optimised transport costs, consistent quality and an overall reduction in waste. With more than seven decades of experience,
