BEUMER Group offers robust belt apron conveyors Robust apron conveyors (SZFs) are used in cement plants to transport clinker safely and economically from the kiln cooling system to the silos. Beumer group is the only manufacturer who offers a special variant, the belt apron conveyor (GSZF): Using a belt instead of a chain as traction element allows higher speeds and a slimmer design while still delivering the same level of performance. The GSZF is therefore particularly suitable for modernisations. In general, the clinker comes out of the cooler at 80 degrees plus ambient temperature. But during the process, a so-called kiln flash can occur caused by a raw meal flash from the preheater tower or by caked clinker coming off the kiln: Within a few seconds several tons of raw meal or clinker shoot through the cooler. The material to be conveyed cannot cool down sufficiently and reaches the conveyor at temperatures of 500 to 800 degrees Celsius. The conveying and storage of sugar create many potential problems. Moisture absorption is a major issue. Moisture causes sugar to cling to itself and everything it touches. This, in turn, creates flow as well as equipment actuation problems. Because sugar absorbs moisture easily, lowering the relative humidity in the conveying line with a desiccant dehumidifier aids in allowing the sugar to be transported dry throughout the system, easing moisture issues. Mass flow measurement with SolidFlow 2.0 In a food production company in Hongkong, different types of baked goods like bread or biscuits are produced. In the plant, wheat is transported from a main silo to smaller production containers for further processing. The material is transported to the rotary valve by means of a pneumatic conveying line (DN 100) into the container. The objective of our customer was to obtain detailed information about the material flow in the conveying pipe between the main wheat silo and the smaller production container. Around 15 employees are involved in innovation developments at our company: They test new materials, create antistatic hoses with an approval for the food sector or heatable hoses that can, for example, transport liquid chocolate.
